First day Enjoy an unforgettable stay on Mount Rigi – Queen of the Mountains. Not only visitors from abroad love this majestic mountain – it is also a favourite with the Swiss themselves. The trip begins with a fascinating drive through the countryside and along the shores of Lake Lucerne to Weggis. An aerial cable car will then transport you to Rigi Kaltbad, from where you will take Europe's first cogwheel train to Rigi-Kulm (5,900ft a.s.l.) Let yourself be amazed by the magnificent panoramic views of Switzerland's midlands, the Alps and the 13 lakes extending before you. Experience the pristine nature of Switzerland's mountain paradise during a short hike through the enchanting landscape. In winter, you can also hire a sledge (optional).
At midday, you will check into the recently renovated 3-star superior mountain hotel "Rigi Kaltbad". Let yourself be pampered in the Mineral Baths & Spa designed by renowned Swiss architect Mario Botta. Immerse yourself in the 95°F relaxing mineral water in the spacious indoor and outdoor pools while enjoying a breathtaking Alpine panorama. The following options are available*: whirlpool, herbal steam bath, sauna and crystal bath. In the evening, culinary highlights await you at Restaurant SunSet, with a four-course à la carte dinner included in the package. Your eventful day will end with a well-deserved, peaceful night’s rest in a tastefully furnished hotel room.
*For adults only – from 11.00am to 7.00pm
Second day A hearty breakfast buffet is the right way to start your day. Do you feel like a swim? The Mineral Baths are open exclusively for hotel guests from 9.00am. At noon, the cogwheel train will take you to Vitznau, from where you will enjoy a relaxing one-hour boat ride to Lucerne. Discover the charming Old Town and tour the famous Chapel Bridge, the Jesuit Church, the Rathaus town hall and the modern Art and Congress Centre designed by French architect Jean Nouvel. We recommend a visit to the Verkehrshaus (Swiss Museum of Transport) or the Rosengart Museum with works by famous artists such as Picasso and Paul Klee. If shopping is more to your liking, you can choose a pleasant stroll through the medieval cobbled streets instead before travelling back to Zurich in the late afternoon.
Professional, multilingual tour guide from Zurich to Weggis and from Lucerne to Zurich. The aerial cable car and cogwheel train journeys, the overnight stay on Mount Rigi and the boat ride to Lucerne on the second day are unaccompanied.
