Zurich Wilderness Park Sihlwald

Forest Sihlwald Zurich is a protected forest reserve and offers plenty of room for nature experiences and recreation.

The forest Sihlwald by Lake Zurich has been left to nature. The beech forest provided the city of Zurich with firewood for hundreds of years but no trees have been felled here since 2000. An original beech forest has therefore become re-established, like those which once covered the majority of Europe: with centuries-old giant trees, deadwood (a habitat for insects) and an impenetrable thicket of ferns and shrubs.

Close to Sihlwald station is a visitor center, home to a museum play area, the restaurant Sihlwald and a souvenir shop. Here you can obtain useful information about the national park and the imaginative Sihlwald forest trail. Admission to the Sihlwald and the visitor center is free of charge. Admission to the museum is subject to a charge.
