Adventurers embark on an expedition into the past, present and future of the Sihl Forest near Zurich at the nature museum located in the wilderness park of the same name.
The nature museum is housed in a former sawmill at the entrance to the Sihlwald forest. Here, the permanent exhibition, “From commercial timberland to natural forest”, relates the past, present and future of the Sihlwald. The relationship between humans and nature also plays an important role in this respect; while in earlier days the beech forest on the left bank of Lake Zurich supplied the entire city of Zurich with firewood, it is now completely left to nature.
An interactive exhibition passes on knowledge about the flora and flora in the forest in a fun and interesting way. In addition, temporary exhibitions on nature themes provide variation, and competent experts are also available to answer any questions.
An information area and souvenir & bookshop round off the various facilities at the entrance of the Sihlwald.
