From one Christmas market to another – now it's easier than ever with the Christmas Express. The Limmat boat connects the Christmas markets Illuminarium/Weihnachtsmarkt HB, Weihnachtsmarkt Niederdörfli, Weihnachtsmarkt Münsterhof, and the Weihnachtsdorf Sechseläutenplatz on selected weekends in November and December.

Candle making in Zurich is a popular tradition in the run-up to Christmas. This year, for the first time, the event is being held at Hechtplatz instead of the pavilion at Bürkliplatz. From 19 November to 19 December, visitors can get creative by making beeswax candles. A meeting place for young and old that combines a festive atmosphere with crafting fun.

At the foyer of the Zurich Opera House, visitors can enjoy free short concerts through 23 December 2025. Talented artists from the Philharmonia Zürich, the Orchesterakademie, the International Opernstudio, and the Chorus will perform 23 concerts, offering an escape from the hustle and bustle of the Advent season.

Musical Advent Calendar

From 10 to 23 January 2025, impressive light installations will transform the exterior facade of the Benedictine monastery in Einsiedeln into a fascinating work of art. Every day at 18:30 and 19:30, the monastery will come to life in a spectacular illumination. With an imaginative and artistic design, animated images accompanied by music tell exciting stories about the monastery and its rich history.

At the Garçoa chocolate pop-up, you can enjoy specialty drinking chocolate until April 2025. Depending on the selected cocoa origin, the drinking chocolate offers a variety of taste experiences – from berry-sweet to tangy-spicy, and even floral-smoky. A true delight for all chocolate lovers.

During the winter months, Gelateria di Berna at Brupacherplatz offers a special selection: in addition to their well-known ice cream specialties, guests can now also enjoy hot chocolate, mulled wine, and homemade panettone. A perfect complement to the winter temperatures.

The Selfie Hotel is returning to Zurich! While this unique “hotel” doesn’t provide overnight stays, it offers a series of vibrant experiential worlds to explore. Inside themed rooms, visitors will find interactive installations, extraordinary lighting effects, and creative designs ­– all crafted to immerse them in a captivating world full of surprises. Each setting is meticulously designed to create the perfect selfie, resulting in photos that inspire and spark the imagination. The grand opening is set for November 11, 2024.
