Zunftstadt Zurich
A turbulent journey back through 700 years of Zurich's guild history in the former “Zum blauen Himmel” building at the heart of the old town.
Over the centuries, the guilds have shaped social and political life in Zurich. Zurich’s Museum Zunftstadt (city of guilds museum) transports visitors back to the past through modern film installations distributed over 3 rooms. All 3 stations tell the story of the city of Zurich and its guilds, based on an entertaining approach.
Listen to two painters as they work on the fresco painting on the wall of the exhibition room in 1545. Travel along the River Limmat from the 18th century to modern-day Zurich. And experience a new beginning for Zurich’s guilds in the 19th century during the Sechseläuten (spring festival).
