Freitag Flagship Store Zürich

The unique, colorful bags from Freitag are famous throughout the world. The practical Freitag bag was first produced in 1993 in an apartment near Zurich’s Hardbrücke bridge. Every day, countless trucks rumbled through the transit intersection, inspiring the Freitag brothers to start make bags out of recycled truck tarpaulins.

The Freitag tower has stood just a few meters from the Hardbrücke bridge since 2006. The tower is - just like the products that can be bought there – made from used materials. It comprises 19 rusty freight containers stacked on top of each other to form a unique skyscraper.

Spread over four floors are more than 1,800 recycled, one-of-a-kind products, such as bags, smartphone cases, wallets, and more. Another five floors up is the viewing terrace (open during the store opening hours), which offers a spectacular view of the ever-changing Zürich-West quarter.

For those who want to make their bag even more individual, the Freitag Yourself Shop at Grüngasse 21 in downtown Zurich offers the opportunity to get hands-on – from choosing the colors of the components to sewing the finished piece on site.
