Seebadi Rapperswil
In a quiet spot at the foot of Rapperswil Castle lies the picturesque lido, the Seebadi Rapperswil. The two-story wooden building can be reached in just a few minutes from the Old Town. With two diving platforms, floats in the lake, as well as sunbathing areas with sunshades, it is a fantastic place to spend some time relaxing. The view opens onto the bay of Kempraten, as well as onto Lake Zurich. And at the bistro bar, guests can enjoy the wonderful sunsets.
The presence of a ledge means that absolutely obstacle-free access to the water is not guaranteed, but the staff will be happy to help.
History/Architecture
Built in 1940 according to plans by architect Robert Walcher, the design of the swimming baths is based on the box baths, which are particularly well known in the city of Zurich. However, it forms a horseshoe shape and is open towards the lake. At one time, the baths were divided into areas for men and women, but today this is no longer the case.
It is said that Swiss writer Hugo Loetscher drew his inspiration here for his book, “Saison”, which is about a young lifeguard.
