Galerie Hauser & Wirth

The influential couple from the international art scene run a gallery on the site of the former Löwenbräu brewery.

Hong Kong, London, New York, Los Angeles, Somerset, St. Moritz – as a globally leading art gallery, Hauser & Wirth is at home all over the world. However, even this big player started off small. At the tender age of seven, Iwan Wirth copied sculptures by Giacometti and sold them for CHF 75. He opened his first gallery at the age of 16, before founding the Hauser & Wirth gallery in Zurich in 1992 together with his wife, Manuela Wirth, and his mother-in-law, Ursula Hauser.

Since then, the gallery has undergone enormous expansion. Its list of artists reads like an overview of collections at major museums. Besides managing the estates of Eva Hesse, Lee Lozano, Louise Bourgeois, Mike Kelley, and Maria Lassnig, Hauser & Wirth represent artists such as Pippilotti Rist, Paul McCarthy, and Martin Creed.
