The spectacular, contrasting nature makes an excursion to the Walensee lake particularly memorable.
Mediterranean climate on the southern shore
Water sports in the clear water
Numerous hiking paths
A backdrop straight out of a fantasy film. From high above, where the distinctive jagged peaks of the Churfirsten mountain range rise into the sky, sheer slopes drop up to 1,000 meters (3,280 ft) deep into the water. One of the idyllic villages scattered along the shoreline is Quinten. This municipality can only be reached on foot or by boat and enjoys a mild Mediterranean climate. Even palm trees and figs grow here.
Diving in the clear water
All around the lake, numerous hiking trails lead past spectacular waterfalls. The lake offers many opportunities for water sports enthusiasts. It is also particularly popular with amateur divers due to its beautifully clear water. In many places, there are boat wreckages just waiting to be explored. But be warned – the lake is a few degrees colder than the other lakes in the vicinity.
