Set against the impressive backdrop of the Einsiedeln Abbey and along the festively lit main street, the Einsiedeln Christmas Market invites you to explore, enjoy, and linger from November 27 through December 6, 2026.
Cozy, festively decorated stalls, Christmas lights, and the large Christmas tree on Klosterplatz create a festive Advent atmosphere right in the heart of the abbey village. The Christmas market’s offerings are complemented by the numerous shops and restaurants in the village center.

Monastery Tours During the Christmas Market
A visit to the Christmas Market is the perfect opportunity to take a look behind the monastery walls.
Monastery Tour of the Church and the Abbey Library
The public monastery tour at 2pm takes visitors through the monastery church and the abbey library, which is not normally open to the public. The tour includes a documentary film shown in the Alte Mühle lecture hall.
During the Christmas market, an additional monastery tour without the film is offered at 3pm.

Special Tour “1,000 Angels in 90 Minutes”
From November 30 through December 3, 2026, the special tour “1,000 Angels in 90 Minutes” will take place daily at 2.30pm. The tour focuses on the art, symbolism, and craftsmanship of the angel depictions at Einsiedeln Abbey. In addition to the abbey church, the tour takes visitors to the Great Hall and offers a glimpse into the stonemason’s workshop.
Getting to the Einsiedeln Christmas Market
The Christmas market takes place in the center of Einsiedeln on Klosterplatz and along the main street. The lower entrance to the market is directly across from the Einsiedeln train station. Due to heavy traffic, the organizer recommends using public transportation.
During the week, public parking spaces are available in the village. On weekends, additional paid parking spaces are marked as needed, subject to availability.
