This is no normal bakery, but a store run by people who want to do their bit to cut down on food wastage.

At first glance, it is not evident that the food items on sale at this bakery are rather special: most of them are left-overs from the previous day that have been collected from the partners of the Äss-Bar (the name is a play on words and in Swiss-German means “edible”). Here, food that would normally be thrown away – despite the fact that it is still of good quality and tastes great – makes its way onto the shelves.

Sandwiches, desserts and much more besides: at the Äss-Bar you can indulge in tasty products at attractive prices – and at the same time contribute towards combating food wastage.

And other original idea: customers also have the opportunity to make their own tea or coffee.
