Kunsthaus Bar

In the bar fitted out by David Chipperfield Architects, your eye is immediately drawn to the fresco, “Pétales et jardin de la nymphe Ancolie”, by Max Ernst from 1934. Together with the long, bright marble counter, the light-flooded bar exudes an inviting atmosphere. Those who take a seat on the terrace have plenty to look at, too: their gaze wanders across the busy Heimplatz, with the Schauspielhaus and the Kunsthaus’s Moser building opposite.

Here, locals feel equally at home as art lovers or visitors from near and far. They come for their morning coffee, a healthy lunch, or an evening drink and enjoy the stylish surroundings.

The snack menu features exclusively locally sourced products and creates a smooth transition from the classic café to the uncomplicated lunch restaurant or the urban bar, which is a popular meeting place before a visit to the movies, the theater, the opera, or a club. All of this – and, of course, Switzerland’s largest Kunsthaus – are in the immediate vicinity.
