Museum of Civil Defense – a Place of History

The Museum of Civil Defense is located beneath a park in Zurich in a bunker dating from 1941. It tells the story of civil defense in Switzerland.

During a 90-minute tour, visitors can explore the three-story round bunker. The museum offers unique insight into the history of Swiss civil defense – from the 30s to the present day.

The technical installations are fascinating and supply the bunker with water, power and fresh air. Visitors can also get active and power the ventilation with their own muscle strength.
Medical facilities are also on display with a patient transport system and operating room for example.

An underground command post from the 60s takes visitors back to the days of the Cold War.
