During the day, the Cinchona Bar in the 25hours Hotel Langstrasse serves as a cozy living room, while in the evening, it is transformed into a venue for social gatherings amidst a relaxed ambiance. Here the aperitif culture among local residents, hotel guests, and cocktail lovers from near and far is actively fostered.
The focal point of the new bar – which, incidentally, was designed by well-known Hamburg bartender Jörg Meyer – are the so-called highballs – small, simple drinks comprising a spirit and top-quality non-alcoholic mixers. Served on the rocks and in tall, chilled highball glasses, they are quickly prepared and swiftly drunk, allowing guests to try out different concoctions and flavors.
Incidentally, “cinchona” is the name of the flowering shrub whose bitter substances are used to flavor fortified wines such as sherry, Madeira, port and vermouth.
This bar housed in the 25hours Hotel on Langstrasse is simply fabulous. And Zurich’s nightlife starts right on its doorstep.
