Special Feature: park covered by a latticework steel construction enveloped by climbing plants
The site of the former Maschinenfabrik Oerlikon (MFO) in Zürich-Nord is covered by a double-walled latticework steel construction that is open on three sides.
It is enveloped by sumptuously sprawling plants supported by wires. The Virginia creeper gives rise to a fabulous play of colors in fall, while in summer visitors are greeted by verdant green foliage. The flights of steps and projecting balconies invite passers-by to stroll through the multi-award-winning construction and linger awhile. At the very top, on the roof, is a sundeck, offering views of the surrounding buildings in the new urban district of Zürich-Nord.
Particularly in summer, the facility is frequently used for various cultural events, such as open-air movie theaters or festivals of all kinds.
