Advent in Zurich means fun for all the family: Christmas shows, fairytale afternoons and traditional candle dipping, to name but a few, are popular events that focus particularly on children. The following activities are therefore particularly recommended for families with children:

The St. Nicholas Tram
In the magical Märlitram, St. Nicholas drives children through Zurich’s city center while they listen to Christmas stories told by an angel.
Candle dipping at Bürkliplatz has long been a tradition for many Zurich locals and families from the region.
At Advent, Conelli’s Christmas Circus always guests on the Bauschänzli, the tiny island in the heart of Zurich.
Ice Skating
In the forest, by the lake, or in the midst of a Christmas market: the various ice rinks in and around Zurich enchant ice-skating enthusiasts of all ages.
Ski enthusiasts can get to these and many other ski areas quickly and easily from Zurich, and so do not need to dispense with skiing.
Providing that there is enough snow, toboggan fans can also race down the mountain on two runners in the region around Lake Zurich.
