Zurich Food Tour: A Culinary Walking Tour

What’s on the menu in Zurich: Food and drink samples plus insider knowledge about local food culture and the hip restaurant scene in Districts 3 and 4.

Zurich is home to some 1,500 restaurants, so those who want to succeed in this diverse gastronomic scene need a compelling concept.

The Zurich Food Tour takes participants through two districts with particularly varied dining options, revealing the interconnectedness of history, culture, and food. At the same time, this culinary walking tour offers locals and tourists alike the opportunity to discover selected eateries with innovative concepts. No one will go home hungry!

The tour takes in District 3 and District 4 – two neighborhoods that could hardly be more different. District 3 is a former workers’ quarter that remained rural for longer than its neighboring districts and today is one of the city’s most fashionable residential areas. Just one street away, the cityscape is very different: For many generations, District 4 was where people who weren’t welcome anywhere else ended up, and it is now one of the city’s most lively spots at night.

These contrasts are also reflected in the local food scene. Guests will learn new tidbits about the area’s history at every stop on the tour. All of the tasting sessions are connected to a different topic: cheese that started off as a way for mountain farmers to be self-sufficient before it became an export product; former brewery sites that today serve other purposes, or the accidental invention that made Swiss chocolate world-famous. The tour offers fascinating insights into the local food and drink culture and shows how dynamically Zurich’s restaurant scene is developing.

Perfect for team days out

The Zurich Food Tour combines indulgence, interesting facts, and personal encounters. At the end, guests will have eaten together, learned new information about Zurich, and enjoyed conversations that rarely arise in the boardroom.
