With its non-swimmer’s zone, children’s paddling pool, diving platforms (1, 3 & 5 meters/ 3.3, 10 & 16.4 ft high), and a 62 meter (203 ft)-long slide, this lakeside bathing facility is an absolute paradise for families with young children.
Wellness aficionados are well catered for with massages, yoga and Pilates. In a separate area there are single-sex sun terraces for naturists. Hot and cold food – with barbecue specialties at sunset – is also available. In addition, the Strandbad Tiefenbrunnen has an automatic rental depot for stand up paddle boards. A board can be released from its compartment via a touchscreen and rented for CHF 30 an hour (payment by credit card or cash).
History/Architecture
In 1954, architects Josef Schütz, Otto Dürr, and Hans Nussbaumer built the lido in the style of a residential garden with pavilion to replace the box bathhouse dating from 1886. Characteristic of the bathing facility are the round concrete mushrooms placed around the glass cash booth. On clear days when the foehn wind is blowing, guests can enjoy magnificent views as far as the Alps from the teahouse with its panoramic terrace.
