Grand Tour of Switzerland

The Zurich section of the Grand Tour of Switzerland fascinates, inspires and enchants.

The Grand Tour of Switzerland is a self-drive route for exploring Switzerland by automobile. Part of the Grand Tour leads right through the center of Zurich. This section impresses with its huge diversity of cultural, natural and culinary highlights.

City Highlights

The Zurich section of the GToS leads from Einsiedeln via the picturesque town of Rapperswil to urban Zurich. From here, the route continues to cultural Winterthur and on to the Rhine Falls near Schaffhausen.

The city by the water emanates a vacation feeling in the heart of the metropolis. With Lake Zurich and the Rivers Limmat and Sihl, visitors feel as if they are in the Venice of Switzerland.

Covering an area of 16,000 sq. m (172,000 sq. ft), Sechseläuten is a favorite meeting place among Zurich’s inhabitants. It is here that the traditional Sechseläuten spring festival and the city’s most beautiful Christmas markets take place. On 180 days a year, the square is given over completely to the public, while on the other 185 days it is the site of various events and festivals.
