Day trip ideas

The glaciers and crystal-clear lakes of the famous Swiss Alps are just a stone’s throw from Zurich.

From Zurich main station, you can travel to the region’s most stunning locations in less than an hour, such as picturesque Rapperswil on Lake Zurich, the majestic Rhine Falls or the nearby Uetliberg mountain.

The Swiss Alps with their snow-capped peaks, crystal-clear mountain lakes and wonderfully fresh air are easily reached by public transport or with a guided tour.

Trips by the water

Switzerland is not only famous for its Alps: a trip to Zurich would not be complete without heading out across the lake, marveling at Europe’s largest waterfall or visiting a spa town.

Rhine Falls

Europe’s largest waterfall, the magnificent Rhine Falls, are just an hour from Zurich.

There’s so much to do on Lake Zurich. Whether you go swimming, stand-up paddle boarding, or jump aboard a ship or a pedalo, a day on Lake Zurich is guaranteed to be a whole lot of fun.
Baden is the ultimate spa town. It boasts thermal baths, wellness retreats, natural springs and even a ‘Klangbrunnen’ (fountain of sound) for your feet.
In the heart of Europe, Zurich’s international airport is the gateway to Switzerland. It takes just 10 minutes on public transport to reach Zurich main station in the center of the city.
Every day Zurich main station is the most visited place in Switzerland and it’s the ideal starting point for excursions in all directions. Like the airport, it connects Zurich to many other cities in Europe.
