Cyclo-Cross World Championships in Dübendorf

Around 300 athletes from 30 countries compete against each other at the Cyclo-Cross World Championships.

February 1 – 2, 2020

The leading lights of international cyclo-cross compete against each other at this sporting event. A 3.2 km (approx. 2 mile) long circuit is being specially built at Dübendorf Airport.

But what exactly is cyclo-cross? Originally created as preparation for the cycle racing season on the Côte d’Azur, cyclo-cross has long since established itself as an independent discipline. The race comprises repeated laps of a short circuit course. The vehicle used is a rather more stable road racing bicycle, which has to be carried over certain sections. The course consists mainly of grass and dirt tracks, which is why the thin tires have more pronounced profiles than on a conventional racing bike.

The event site can be reached on foot in 10 minutes from Dübendorf Train Station.
