Stadtmuseum Rapperswil-Jona – a Journey Back in Time

The Stadtmuseum Rapperswil-Jona (city museum) covers 800 years of history – from mediaeval pilgrims to a popular tourist destination by Lake Zurich.

The striking entrance to the city museum reflects a successful combination of past and present. The new building includes a 14th century tower and 15th century city palace, both of which serve as exhibition space.

While the historic character of the space has been preserved, the design of the exhibitions is surprisingly modern. A model shows the city 200 years ago while craft and industrial objects reflect changes in production. The Circus Knie, based in Rapperswil-Jona, is also mentioned. The windows offer magnificent views of the city and Lake Zurich as it is here and now.
