Ritterhaus Bubikon – Visiting the Knights of the Past

The Ritterhaus in Bubikon is regarded as the best-preserved Commandery of the Order of St. John in Europe. Its roots date back to the 12th century.

The Ritterhaus was used as a residence by the Order of St. John for many centuries. From here, the order of knights managed its considerable assets in the surrounding area.

The site is a unique mediaeval monument. Thanks to the Ritterhaus Bubikon society it was saved from certain downfall and today operates as a museum.

The exhibition tells the story of the order and illustrates the redevelopment work, which has taken place at the Ritterhaus over the centuries. Visitors can see a coin collection and comprehensive weapons display. The herb garden is home to various healing herbs and spices planted here in the Middle Ages.
