New Building, Kunsthaus Zürich

October 9 – 10

The Kunsthaus Zürich opens its long-awaited extension by architect David Chipperfield. This will create more space for visitors as well as for contemporary art, Classical Modernism, Impressionism, and the works from the Bührle Collection. The extension will make the Kunsthaus the largest art museum in Switzerland and consolidate its national and international importance.

Reopening, Zurich Convention Center and Tonhalle Zürich

From September 4 – 5

These event and concert spaces were sorely missed during their renovation and rebuilding. Now both the Convention Center and the Tonhalle Zürich shine in new splendor at their prime location on the lake. The first major event to be held in the history-steeped halls will be the Film Music Competition of the Zurich Film Festival.

For many Zurich residents, the Theater Spektakel on the Landiwiese is the fitting end to a wonderful summer. This year, the popular theater festival will be held decentrally in several locations and on various stages, and treats visitors to inflatable installations, avatars, and amazing performances.

One week before Art Basel, the art scene meets in Zurich. Lectures, guided walks, and exhibitions on contemporary art are held in various galleries, museums, and institutions.

Switzerland's largest festival for digital culture, the Digital Arts Festival Zurich, shows works by 60 national and international artists in the city center. On the program are exhibitions, immersive experiences, concerts, and discussions relating to this new art form.
