Geological-Mineralogical Exhibition at the ETH
The planet Earth is the result of constant development over millions of years and periods of dramatic catastrophes. Stones that look dead to us were joined together, reshaped and even completely melted down. They are the mute witnesses of the enormous forces at work at the surface of the earth and deep below. The Geological-Mineralogical Exhibition at the ETH gives fascinating insights into these processes: the atomic structure of crystals and minerals, the formation of mountain chains and the processes behind continental drift. Traces of life long ago range from the skeletons of small sea-dwellers to the footprints of giant dinosaurs.
