Wasserkirche

The "Water Church" was originally built on a small island, where, according to legend, the city's martyrs Felix and Regula were execute by the Romans. This late Gothic church was completed towards the end of the 15th century nad was regarded as especially holy. This is why, during the Reformation, it was referred to as a "temple of idol worshippers". A warehouse and then a municipal library were set up to prevent anyone from being tempted on re-introduce the cult of the saints. Renovated in 1942, the church is now used for religious and cultural purposes. Worth seeing: the choir window by Augusto Giacometti showing a car.
