Town Hall Park
The Town Hall Park is Zürich's best loved marketplace. The site was created from 1833 onwards by piling rubble from the baroque fortifications along the edge of the lake, and was originally reserved for the planned construction of a parliament building. When Berne was chosen as the capital in 1848, the site became a public park named after the old Town Hall next door.
