Coin and antiques collection - Münzkabinett
|
|
The beginnings of the city of Winterthur's coin collection date back to the 17th century, though it owes its present-day significance to the scholar Friedrich Imhoof-Blumer (1838-1920). Its collection of Swiss coins is the most comprehensive apart from that of the Swiss National Museum in Zürich. Furthermore, it has the most important collection of antique coins in Switzerland as well as a collection of 130,000 plaster casts of antique coins for study purposes. Each year, changing exhibits on the history of coins and money go far beyond the museum's own collection. ZürichCARD PLUS: Free entry
