All the data passing through a server can be read by those using it -
at least in theory. To prevent this happening, it has become standard
Internet practice for sensitive data to be encrypted before transmission.
Zürich Tourism uses SSL for this purpose.
Both Internet
Explorer and Netscape Navigator display a padlock icon in the status bar
whenever the connection being used is encrypted. As hotel bookings on
www.zuerich.com are handled in a so-called frame, however, this padlock
will not be visible, although the page is still
secure.
