Zürich’s Foresight

In Zürich, old is being turned into new, whereby the two are increasingly being merged to co-exist side by side. In the southern part of the city, a former industrial zone is currently being transformed into the brand new SihlCity, a centre of knowledge and "thinking culture", known as Science City, is being created on the Hönggerberg. Numerous conversion and renovation projects of various sizes are in the pipeline, which over the next few years promise to provide the city with some stunning new buildings.

Durchmesserlinie Altstetten-Zürich HB-Oerlikon

Zürich Main Station is the key element in the Swiss rail system. In 2020, the Main Station is expected to reach the limits of its capacity with more than half a million passengers.
The cross-city link will offer a solution to this bottleneck by increasing the main station’s capacity from the end of 2013.

Plan Lumière

Zürich now enjoys a shimmering nocturnal look, thanks to the new illumination concept, Plan Lumière, which shows the city in a spectacular new light. The illumination of significant buildings and squares has enhanced the quality of life in Zürich’s public areas after dark. Night owls can enjoy an array of stunning light effects.

Urban Area around the Main Railway Station

Science City

The Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH) is building a university campus and "city district for thinking culture" all in one on the Hönggerberg. Science City is envisioned to become a center of knowledge and a platform for cross-border dialogue between science, society and the business world, and thus represents a revolutionary new model for the university of the 21st century.

Completely Renovated The Dolder Grand

The Dolder Grand is steering a course into the future, reincarnating itself from its original function as a health spa to its new status as a trail-blazing luxury-class City Resort. The result is an exciting symbiosis between its splendid past and vibrant present. This tradition-steeped establishment, offering a magnificent view over the city and the lake, will reopen its doors at the beginning of 2008.

Coop Areal

The privately financed citywest project on what is currently the Coop site on Pfingstweidstrasse consists of three large residential buildings, an office building and the western side of the Maag yard. A high-rise building featuring offices and apartments is planned to the north of the site. Apartments for 1,500 people and office space for 1,300 will be constructed on the site. A new luxury hotel, the operator of which does not yet wish to be named, will occupy the future high-rise building, which will be 80 meters high. With 284 rooms and 568 beds, it will be one of the largest hotels in the city.

New Hotel Radisson SAS, Zürich Airport

The new Radisson SAS Hotel Zürich Airport, which enjoys a prime position directly opposite the departure terminal, is already regarded as the showpiece of the airport. The brand new hotel, with its 329 rooms and 3,700 square meters of conference facilities, is due to be completed in the fall of 2008. Further information will follow.
