The Kunsthalle Zürich exhibits international contemporary art. It aims to base its exhibitions on artistic practices and issues.

Until September 2010, the Kunsthalle Zürich (Museum of Fine Art) and other cultural institutions and galleries were located on the Löwenbräu Areal, which is Zürich’s top spot for contemporary art.
The renovations of the landmarked building on the Löwenbräu Areal will be finished in 2012, then it will be partially extended and expanded with two high-rise buildings. During this time, the Kunsthalle Zürich is displaying its exhibitions at Museum Bärengasse.
